Information meeting and comment opportunity scheduled for Route 52 / 4th Street (Wytheville) Study

The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will hold an information meeting to review safety alternatives and study updates for a portion of the Route 52/4th Street corridor.

BRISTOL — The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will hold an information meeting to review safety alternatives and study updates for a portion of the Route 52/4th Street corridor in the Town of Wytheville near exit 70. The meeting will be held Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2024, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Wytheville Meeting Center located at 333 Community Boulevard, Wytheville, VA 24382.

This is the second round of public engagement for the study, with the first study survey held in June 2023.

A new study survey is available Feb. 2-16, 2024, at the following link: https://publicinput.com/us52studyalts.

The survey is part of a study that began last year. Elements of the study include:

  • Turn-lane improvements.
  • Traffic signal synchronization/coordination.
  • Intersection improvements.
  • Pedestrian improvements/connectivity.
  • How businesses are accessed.
  • Other traffic improvements that address safety and potential congestion issues.

Citizens can go online to https://www.vdot.virginia.gov/route52-4thStreetStudy to review the study information and find the link to the survey. The survey will remain open through February 16.
