Virtual comment opportunity available for Interstate 81 exit 7 (Bristol) STARS Study

The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) wants the public’s input on a survey regarding the Interstate 81 Exit 7 interchange area in Bristol.

BRISTOL — The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) wants the public’s input on a survey regarding the Interstate 81 Exit 7 interchange area in Bristol.

A survey is available February 10 – 24, 2025 at the following link: https://www.vdot.virginia.gov/projects/bristol-district/interstate-81-exit-7-stars-study/

The survey is part of a study that began this year. Elements of the study include:

            - How businesses are accessed.
            - Turn-lane improvements.
            - Traffic signal synchronization/coordination.
            - Intersection improvements.
            - Pedestrian improvements/connectivity.
            - Other traffic improvements that address safety and potential congestion issues.

The STARS (Strategically Targeted Affordable Roadway Solutions) Program aims to develop comprehensive and innovative multimodal transportation solutions to address congestion and safety challenges in the Commonwealth.

Citizens can go to https://www.vdot.virginia.gov/projects/bristol-district/interstate-81-exit-7-stars-study/ to review the study information and take the survey. The survey will remain open through February 24.
